Dating can be tricky at any time, but it especially is after you've just come out of a long-term relationship. If you'd like to start dating again, here are some tips to help you get started on the right track.

  • 1. Take stock

Before you get involved in another relationship, take a good look at why your previous relationship ended. Don't gloss over your own culpability, either; no break-up is ever entirely the fault of only one person. Putting all the blame on your ex will only lead to bitterness and negativity, which only makes finding someone new more difficult.

  • 2. Make sure you're ready

If you don't think you're ready to start dating again, don't. Get yourself in the right place mentally and emotionally before getting involved with someone else, or it probably won't work out.

  • 3. Play the field

Don't make the mistake of falling for the very first person you meet after your previous relationship ends. This rebound relationship probably won't last, and then you'll have one more relationship on your plate to try and get over. Meet lots of new people, not necessarily to start dating them, but just to go out and have fun! Meeting new people should be something to enjoy, not something you do with an objective in mind. So get out there and enjoy yourself!
